14 Months Old

This month seemed to go a little slower than most others. Maybe because we had lots going on... or perhaps because we've entered into toddler territory. Either way, it was a super fun and memorable month, filled with many more firsts for Miss H!

Lately it's been going to bed before 9pm.... fun.... Hopefully it's because she is cutting like 6 teeth right now!

Hadley, here are a few things we love best about you this month...

♡♡♡♡ We Love...♡♡♡♡
  • That laughing gives you the hiccups!
  • That sometimes you wave & laugh at yourself in the car mirror (this is also how you find and pull out your hair bows)
  • How you pat us on the back
  • How you help with the dishes by handing mom the plastic plates one at a time to put away.
  • How you lean your head back on the couch when you are relaxing!
  • Watching you love on your babies - the cutest thing ever!
  • How you have white lines in the crease of your elbows, but are tan on the rest of your arms!
  • How your feet pitter patter against the hard wood floors so it is easy to tell where you are! :)
  • That you clap for yourself when you are proud of something you did!
  • Your voracious appetite and willingness to eat just about anything!
Picture
You know exactly what you want and can be relentless until we give in, but you are also a gentle soul who plays nicely with other kids and has a big heart for animals. You are filled with more joy than anyone I have ever met ever! You make me stop and enjoy all of life's simple pleasures. Watching you cheer for yourself after pressing the garage door button and successfully opening the door or happily pulling the bubble wand in and out of the container for a solid hour remind me how this big world is still so small and new to you! We love sharing every single new moment with you.

Happy 14 Months Hadley! We love you!

Hadley's 1st Flight/Keisha's Baby Shower

Aunt Keisha's baby shower for Cousin Vivian was held on June 25th in Houston.  Hadley and I decided instead of doing 8 hours of road tripping in a short turn-around trip that we would fly in a few days early. I knew I could handle flying alone with a 13 month old, but it still gave me a little bit of anxiety. Hadley is not a huge fan of loud noises or being confined for long periods of time, so I wasn't sure how she'd do.

Always a trooper, however, everything went off without a hitch!

Checking our bags and going through security was a total breeze. Then when we got to the gate, Hadley was happy to people watch and walk around, smiling at everyone!

Once we boarded our flight, we picked a seat in the back of the plane next to the window. Thankfully two nice ladies sat next to us and gave Hadley plenty of friendly smiles. I picked up several new toys/items at the Dollar Store before our trip to keep Hadley occupied for our 50 minute flight.

Those kept her busy for about half the flight and then the other half we got by with continuous distraction. Her favorite part of the flight was opening and closing the seat back tray! ;)

She did great during take off and landing, which is what I was most worried about. Such a good girl! I'd definitely fly with her again, although we'd want Daddy to come with us if the flight was much longer...it's nice to have back up!

While in Houston we got to visit with some friends since we had a couple of extra days! First, we had a swim playdate with my friend Liz and her son Benjamin!

We also got to spend some time with Aunt Lauren who came bearing gifts including this precious swimsuit!!! Wish it came in my size!

Then on Saturday we had a fun time showering Aunt Keisha & Baby Vivian at a darling flamingo themed party!

We had such a fun trip getting to visit so many of our friends and family! We are looking forward to Vivian's arrival sometime in late August! Maybe we'll even fly in for her birth! :) Can't wait!

2nd Annual Staycation 2016

For the second summer in a row, our air conditioning went out. Last year, this was a fun adventure as we got to get out of the house with, a then 3 month old, Hadley for her first hotel stay. We had a lot less to lug around back in those days. Just a light, easily portable rock n play and a few diapers.

Now we have to haul around her giant pack n play, diapers, food, sippy cups, toys, etc. Nevertheless we set out on our journey!

Hadley loved the change of scenery, including a new bed to jump on!

Look how much she's grown since last year's Summer Staycay!

Anyway, we stayed at the Lumen hotel across the street from SMU campus and got a great deal booking through hotels.com at the last minute! We even got upgraded to the fantasy suite - ha, maybe it wasn't called that, but it was pretty fancy! :) Check out the robes we found waiting for us!

We know how to live! :) So yeah our Staycation (which was on Father's Day Eve) turned out to be a pretty good time!

That is until, our AC didn't work the next day either, forcing us to extend our little holiday from home. Staying in hotels is all glitz and glam until you have to logistically figure out napping schedules/hotel check out times, where and what to eat, how to entertain her all day long, getting more clothes/diapers out of a 95 degree home with a one year old, etc... Not to mention Mason had to work on Monday so I was forced to deal with a lot of these issues on my own... blah!

A little over 48 hours later and our AC was repaired, putting an end to our 2nd Annual Guinn Family Broken A/C Staycation.

Let's hope next year, if we decide to explore new Dallas hotels, it is on our own terms and not due to a faulty cooling unit.

Stay cool! XOXO!
