Occasionally, Daddy gets to enjoy a Frisco Roughriders baseball game during his lunch break with tickets provided by his company. He received two tickets to this afternoon's game, so Hadley and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and drive up to visit Daddy! I wasn't sure if it was going to be too much action or overly loud for her. Several month's ago we went to Cousin Emma's volleyball tournament and Hadley would cry anytime people yelled or cheered too loudly. The baseball game, however, she was totally into (and it was way noisier than the volleyball game was)! She loved it! She was bouncing up and down to the music and watching the ball players with interest! She even picked up on everyone in the crowd clapping and followed suit like a good little spectator! We only got to stay for a very short time, because Daddy had to get back to the office, but we had a good time and will definitely make a trip back soon now that we know we have a budding sports fan on our hands! "For it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the ol' ball game!"

As we know, Hadley is growing up way too fast! And now... she's dating!!!! This morning we met at Boulangerie, a local french style bakery, for a coffee date with a new mommy friend and her little boy Owen! Owen is 10 days younger than Hadley... guess he's into older women?! :) So fun watching Hadley interact with babies her age. She wasn't as flirty and smiley this morning as she usually is. Guess she's playing hard to get! That's my girl! ;)
Hadley, you are allowed to start dating whenever you want to. Just as long as Mommy can come with you! :) :) :) That is all that stands between us having a baby instead of a toddler. The nostalgia is starting to hit me like a freight train. I am knee deep in birthday decorating and crafting hell, but all I want to do is curl up in bed and stare at the nearly 5,000 pictures that chronicle every minute of Hadley's first 351 days. And you know what... it's still not enough. I haven't taken nearly enough pictures, recorded as many videos, or written all of the blog posts that I wish I had. I don't want to forget a single second of this first year. Sadly, it's inevitable. Time passes, memories fade. Not to mention we were only half-awake for a good portion of this first year. I've been entertaining myself reading older posts about the early days. Some things have changed so drastically since then, and others remain the same. We now enjoy full nights of sleep, Hadley feeds herself the majority of the time, and I have much longer stretches of ME time to get things done or even to *gasp* relax occasionally! Motherhood has gotten easier in some ways and poses new challenges in others. Long gone are the days of being unable to set Hadley down for fear of her crying out in protest. Now I'm just scared she'll somersault down the staircase! There are still plenty of moments of frustration and others of sheer physical exhaustion. But that smile. It has changed our whole world. We would do absolutely anything for this girl. This journey has been the most enjoyable and educational one we've ever taken. But it's been far too short. How is it possible that she will be ONE in only two weeks??? As much as I'd love to bottle up her baby days and have her never grow up, I will keep looking forward to all of the "I can't wait to do this with her" moments! There are too many of those to count. Mainly I just feel blessed to be your Mama, Miss Hadley! So glad that you won't just be my baby for only 14 more days...
Last weekend we made a sad and unexpected trip back to Mason's hometown to say goodbye to a very dear friend. Nathan was a loud mouth, cocky, has to win every debate kinda guy, but he had a heart of gold and was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. We will miss you buddy! As tough as our weekend was, we decided to take lemons and turn them into lemonade... or perhaps grapes into wine!? :) Our drive back home to Dallas takes us right through Ennis - the Bluebonnet Capitol of Texas. We were planning to drive out that way to get some bluebonnet pictures with Hadley anyway, so we figured we'd knock it out as we were passing through. We didn't really know where we were heading, but took a few backroads through some beautiful Texas farming plantations and low and behold... we found ourselves on the Bluebonnet Trail! Then by chance, we also happened upon a private residence, with fields of bluebonnets, that had opened their property up to the public. Cha-ching! Exactly what we were looking for! Taking your picture with the bluebonnets is a right of passage in Texas! So, of course, if there's a photo shoot to be had, I am ALL OVER IT. :) Hadley wasn't really into it at first, however. But she started to warm up a little once Mommy & Daddy joined in on the fun! Then she surprised us by standing on her own, for the longest that she's ever stood up without holding onto anything! Daddy's little bluebell! After awhile, she was totally comfortable amongst the wild flowers and back to her picture posing ways. So glad we went on this little backroads bluebonnet journey. A fun experience and hopefully a new tradition begun. In loving memory of our friend, Nathan Andrew Monk. May you rest peacefully... XOXO It's here. The last month before the big ONE. Hadley becomes more and more of a little girl and less of a baby each day. She walks around the entire living room holding onto the furniture. She gives eskimo kisses. She shovels snacks into her mouth like she's been eating solids for years. She has started crawling AWAY from me instead of towards me. She likes to face outward in the stroller and watch the world pass by. She smiles and waves hello and bye-bye to anyone and everyone she encounters. Yet, she still nuzzles in close when she's scared, upset, or tired. Heart melt. We're soaking in every single second of these fleeting baby days. Happy 11 Months Hadley!!! After 10 months of perfectly posed and smiling pictures, Hadley is finally over it. Oh well, we had a good run! If we weren't diving face forward off the chair, then we were busy playing with the blocks and trying to adjust our age! We even had a minor injury on set when she pulled the camera off the window seal. But that's not why she's crying in this picture. It's just hard being a baby mode sometimes.. And here are more out takes, because it's almost our last monthly photo shoot and I feel like it... OKAY!!! Wait, hold on Mom. I've gotta text someone real quick... Welp. That's a wrap on that one folks. I tried. Here are a few of Hadley's favorites this month... Milestones this Month:
Clothing/Diapers: Size 9 or Size 6-12 in clothing. Still in size 2 diapers, but we're just trying to finish up our last pack and then we're moving up to 3's! Sleeping: So Hadley threw us for a little bit of a loop when she started standing up in her crib, We lowered the crib and then decided to also take her out of the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit. That didn't go so well. She slept without out it one night, but that was probably out of sheer exhaustion. We gave it back to her and we've been enjoying 12 HOURS of straight sleep each night ever since! I get to wakeup have a cup of coffee and watch an episode of Parenthood nearly every morning before Mommy duties begin. So nice!!! All this extra night time sleep has really screwed up your nap schedule though. A lot of the time you just take one nap a day. Still sorting all that out, but I will gladly take fewer naps in exchange for a LOOONG stretch at night! Magic Merlin is here to stay for now. I think it's a bit of a security blanket for her now. Don't worry we already ordered her the next size up! :) Food: Still loves pretty much everything. Mama has had to get inventive since Hadley pretty much prefers solids all the time now. I've made things like pea fritters and banana pancakes to name a couple, and sliced and diced many a fruit and veggie. It's pretty hard to feed a soon to be toddler, in my opinion. I am not a huge snacker so I've had to really change the way I grocery shop to make sure I have lots of options for our growing baby girl! Hadley is also still nursing about 4 times a day. We will slowly start the weaning process this next month. Things Hadley Hates: Still not a fan of road trips longer than 10 minutes. Hadley, here are a few things we love best about you this month: ♡♡♡♡ We Love...♡♡♡♡
This month was everything was pretty much back to normal! We were able to leave the house, enjoy the nice weather, and even start going on walks again! Mommy & Daddy went to Scottsdale for a wedding this past weekend and we missed you the whole time. We have so much fun with you that we want to take you with us everywhere we go! This next month there will be a lot of preparation for your 1st birthday party. I expect that there will also be a lot of reflection as we look back at all the memories shared during your first year! We love you so vey much! Let's make this last month before you turn ONE the best one yet!
