Yesterday, I hit the 5 week marker of my pregnancy! According to my "The Bump" App our little Johnny Appleseed is growing rapidly, beginning to develop it's nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and skeleton this week. Crazy how it all happens so fast!
So far I am still feeling great! No nausea, not overly tired (just normal school teacher tired), no aches and pains, and no food aversions. Other than very slight cramping I don't really feel any differently than I normally do. I'm praying to Baby Jesus that this trend continues. I've been reading that nausea and vomiting occur in approx. 70% of mothers and that it usually begins sometime in the 6th week, but I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I'm among the lucky 30 percentile!
I do, however, bring a bottle of water with sliced lemon and ginger to sip on while at school... just in case. Also, the kids keep me on my toes, so the day goes by quickly and I have little time to even think about the fact that I'm pregnant.
My only symptom thus far, is that I feel like I am more easily annoyed by small things (noises, dumb questions, etc) and my patience is a little less than what it normally would be. Guess it's the hormones. Or maybe that just comes with 5 years of being in the classroom with immature 6th graders. Not sure?
I'm still wrapping my head around all of this and it still doesn't quite feel real. I called my OB-GYN and spoke to the receptionist to book our first appointment. It was so nice to FINALLY hear a congratulations from someone! So now we're up to 4 people who know our little secret. ;)
I'm scheduled to visit on October 6th and Mason will come with me for our first sonogram and to listen to the heartbeat. I'm sure that will make it feel more legit. I also can't really envision it completely without knowing the sex yet. It's hard for me to get in big time baby mode without knowing if it's a BOY or a GIRL! We will definitely be finding out as soon as we are able to. Then the real fun (A.K.A pink or blue shopping frenzy) can begin! :)
Whether it's footballs or pom poms.... I'm growing more excited each day to welcome our little tiny into the world! 35 more weeks to go!
